Frozen favorites, carefully packed
Our frozen products are packed in an insulated foam cooler with carefully measured dry ice when an order and destination meet our frozen-shipping requirements. Available services are determined at checkout. It is a specialized way to ship, but it helps your Dutch favorites stay properly cold on their way to you.
How frozen shipping works
Packed for frozen travel
We pack eligible frozen products in an insulated foam cooler with protective materials and carefully measured dry ice.
Eligible service, confirmed at checkout
We only offer shipping when an eligible carrier service can meet the frozen-shipping transit requirements for your order and destination. Carrier delays can still happen, so please open and check your delivery promptly.
Shipping eligibility and timing
Frozen shipping depends on your destination, available carrier services, product mix, weather, and operational capacity. We show available options and estimated timing at checkout before you complete your order.
Frozen-packaging charge
Frozen shipments require an insulated foam cooler, protective packing materials, and dry ice. The frozen-packaging charge helps cover this specialized packout and is applied once per eligible frozen shipment.
If something does not look right
We take frozen shipping seriously, but carrier delays, damaged packages, and unexpected weather can occasionally happen.
Please contact us as soon as possible if:
- A product feels warm
- A measured product temperature is above 40°F
- The insulated cooler or outer box is badly damaged
- Packaging has opened or leaked
- The shipment arrived substantially later than expected
- You are uncertain whether a product is safe to store or consume
To help us resolve the issue quickly, please include:
- Your order number
- The time the package was delivered
- The time you opened it
- The measured product temperature, when available
- Photos of the products, insulated cooler, outer box, and shipping label
Please do not taste a product to determine whether it is safe.
Contact our support teamWhen your frozen order arrives
Open your package promptly in a well-ventilated area and check the frozen products immediately. It is normal for little or no dry ice to remain by the time your order arrives. The condition and temperature of the food, not the presence of dry ice, determine what to do next.
Checking product condition and temperature
Use these steps to decide what to do next.
Frozen or still containing ice crystals
Place the products in your freezer promptly.
Fully thawed but 40°F or below
Refrigerate the products promptly and contact us for product-specific guidance before refreezing. Refreezing may affect texture and quality.
Above 40°F
Do not consume the products.
Take photos of the products and packaging, note the temperature, and contact us promptly so we can help.
When in doubt, choose safety and contact us.
Handling any remaining dry ice
Dry ice is extremely cold and should be handled carefully. Do not touch it with bare hands. Keep it away from children and pets, and open the cooler only in a well-ventilated area.
- Do not touch dry ice with bare hands.
- Do not place dry ice in a sink, toilet, drain, trash container, refrigerator, freezer, or sealed container.
- Do not store it for later use.
- Leave it inside the open cooler in a secure, well-ventilated location away from children and pets.
- Allow it to disappear naturally.
- Never place dry ice in an airtight container because the released gas can create pressure.
Frequently asked questions
How are frozen products shipped?
Frozen products are packed in an insulated foam cooler with protective materials and carefully measured dry ice. Available frozen shipping services are determined at checkout based on the destination and eligible transit time.
How is frozen shipping availability determined?
Frozen shipping depends on destination, carrier availability, transit time, product mix, weather, and operational capacity. If we cannot offer an eligible service for your order, frozen shipping will not be available at checkout.
When will I see my frozen shipping options?
After you enter your shipping address at checkout, we show the frozen-shipping services that are available for your order and their estimated timing before you complete your purchase.
What if no dry ice remains when my order arrives?
That can be completely normal. Dry ice gradually turns into gas during transit. Check the condition and temperature of the food rather than using the presence of dry ice as the test. Products that are frozen or still contain ice crystals should go directly into the freezer.
What if my products arrive thawed?
If the products are fully thawed but measure 40°F or below, refrigerate them promptly and contact us for product-specific guidance before refreezing. If they are above 40°F, do not consume them. Take photos, note the temperature, and contact us promptly.
How should I handle remaining dry ice?
Do not touch it with bare hands. Keep children and pets away, and leave the dry ice inside the open cooler in a secure, well-ventilated location until it disappears naturally. Never place it in a sink, toilet, drain, trash container, refrigerator, freezer, or sealed container.
Can I reuse or recycle the cooler?
The insulated foam cooler may be reused if it is clean and undamaged. Recycling options for foam packaging vary by location, so check your local recycling guidance. Make sure all dry ice has completely disappeared before handling, storing, reusing, or recycling the cooler.
Why is there a frozen-packaging charge?
Frozen shipments require a specialized insulated cooler, protective packing materials, and dry ice. The charge helps cover this additional cold-chain packaging and is applied once per eligible frozen shipment.
Why can frozen orders only ship to certain destinations?
Frozen shipping depends on available carrier services, destination, transit time, weather, and operational capacity. If we cannot confidently offer an eligible service to your address, frozen shipping will not be available at checkout.
Can frozen and shelf-stable products be ordered together?
Yes. Frozen items require specialized packaging and an eligible service. The contents of your bag and your destination may affect the shipping options available at checkout.
